Load Balancer Company KEMP Technologies Eyes Europe as it Considers Expanding
February 13, 2012

KEMP Technologies, a provider of load balancer technology, has had quite a 2012 so far. From releasing version 6.0 of its LoadMaster family of server load balancer appliances to receiving $16 million in funding from three investors, the company is slowing no signs of slowing down despite the sluggishness that can often accompany winter months.
In fact, the company is setting its eyes on expanding, as KEMP recently announced its plans to use some of the proceeds of venture capital backing to increase its foothold and levels of channel support in the UK. KEMP, whose sweet spot is the SME end of the load-balancing market, recently received $16 million in backing last month from venture capitalists led by Edison Ventures and is using that cash to augment European positioning.
Along those lines, Leigh Bradford was recently dubbed the UK sales manager for KEMP and he will be tasked with driving growth in the region, supported by a European HQ that has been set up in Limerick. As stated in a recent article, Bradford said he is looking forward to working with more resellers. Further, he noted that since Microsoft (News
- Alert) was putting more emphasis on load balancing in its Exchange and Lync programs, there was a natural fit with dealers with those skills.KEMP Sales Director for EMEA George Zervos said that it would be making further investment in its UK team bringing on people to support channel partners. "Kemp has grown organically and is a privately held company that has been present in the UK and Europe but we want to develop in Europe," he said.
In other load balancer news, Jim Puchbauer (News - Alert), director of marketing for Coyote Point Systems – a provider of load balancer technology – sat down with TMCnet to discuss where the industry is headed this year. Aside from an increased desire for more flexible, powerful management tools, Coyote Point also predicts that this year the load balancer market will be greatly affected by virtualization.
“Virtualization has radically transformed how data centers are built, managed, and networked,” Puchbauer said. “We are predicting increased demand for application delivery tools to help in these virtual environments. Rapid server deployment and new levels of deployment flexibility are becoming common. What we see needed are answers to new questions on how to manage application performance and availability in the rapidly evolving virtualized environments.”
