A Look Back on the Best Moments for Load Balancer Company Coyote Point in 2011

For Coyote Point Systems (News - Alert) – a provider of load balancer technologies – 2011 was nothing short of successful for the company. From the introduction of its 10th generation EQ/OS ADC (News
- Alert) software platform to the unveiling of its Japanese headquarters, 2011 was a banner year for the load balancer provider.
“We were successfully involved in larger and larger opportunities,” Jim Puchbauer (News - Alert), director of marketing for Coyote Point, told TMCnet when asked how 2011 was for the company. “Businesses are recognizing that Application Delivery Controller (ADC) architecture matters and the EQ/OS 10 has significantly distinguished itself. The days of satisfying customizers with brochure stats are long gone. The industry is recognizing that the ever-evolving complexity of networks and application delivery requirements require more flexible and powerful set of management tools.”
Coyote Point was one company that recognized the need for more flexible, powerful management tools and, accordingly, it introduced the 10th generation of its EQ/OS ADC software platform this year. EQ/OS 10 is a purpose-built, enterprise-class application delivery architecture that provides a unifying technology platform for the GX line of EqualizerTM Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs), Equalizer OnDemandTM Virtual ADC and EnvoyTM Global Server Load Balancer (GSLB).
According to Puchbauer, the EQ/OS 10 demonstrates “significant improvement” in connectivity, speed, availability, security and management.
Another highlight for the load balancer company this year was the opening of a Japanese headquarters in Tokyo, which is being headed by Country Manager Yoju Kobayashi. This announcement followed the June launch of www.coyotepoint.jp, a localized website that provides regional users with access to Coyote Point's full suite of information and resources in their native language.
Coyote Point also added new team members to its pack this year as it welcomed Lisa Pozzi to the senior management team. With more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, Pozzi serves as the vice president of sales and marketing. Moreover, in the Western and Eastern territories, Coyote Point hired two regional sales managers – Damon Jamieson and Dylan Ali.
2011 was also marked by Coyote Point’s continued focus on ADCs solutions for customer applications and key examples included the company’s increased education market focus by forming a partnership with Blackboard and continuing to focus on Microsoft (News
- Alert) applications through Microsoft certification and approval of Coyote Point Exchange 2010 solutions, followed by HP certification for the HP E5000 Messaging System.
As the industry kept its eye on IPv6 this year, Coyote Point was right there participating in World IPv6 Day on June 8, an event sponsored and organized by the Internet Society and several large content providers to test public IPv6 deployment. Coyote Point showcased its Equalizer technology to enable IPv6 connectivity to its public website, www.coyotepoint.com.
“To make IPv6 compliance even easier Coyote Point and Hurricane Electric (News - Alert) announced a partnership that provides users of Coyote Point's Equalizer ADCs with direct access to Hurricane Electric's IPv6 Service offering,” Puchbauer said. “Coyote Point's EQ/OS 10 provides an easy to configure interface to create a tunnel with Hurricane Electric's tunnel broker service at one end, and Coyote Point's Equalizer at the other. The result is ‘instant IPv6,’ a very simple way to bring websites and applications into the otherwise complex world of IPv6.”
Other chief accomplishments include: Coyote Point’s Reseller Program being recognized by Channel Reseller News as 5-Star Partner Program; Everything Channel recognizing Coyote Point’s Michael Hayes as a 2011 channel chief, or a recognized leader that “defends, promotes and executes effective channel partner programs and strategies”; Coyote Point receiving “Best Support Team Award” from Network Products Guide in its sixth annual 2011 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards; and receiving multiple technology recognition awards for its SSL processing and application acceleration technologies, Equalizer E650GX Application Delivery Controller, EQ/OS 10 Architecture and Envoy Global Server Load Balancer solutions.
When asked what Coyote Point hopes the industry took away about the load balancer company this year, Puchbauer said, “Our customers are asking for, and testing for, a comprehensive set of ADC features to help them manage their application servers and infrastructure.”
“Complex application delivery environments require flexible, easily scripted Match Rules that application administrators can use to evaluate all sorts of request characteristics,” he added. “Client’s IP address or subnet, or the path elements in an HTTP request may all need to be used to properly routed and process traffic. Further our customers are finding value in automation. Our patented Smart Control technology is a powerful automated management infrastructure allowing administrators to create smart control events by defining triggers and actions to initiate changes in the internal or external application delivery environment. The industry learned that ‘If you try us you like us.’ We had a phenomenal success rate in 2011 with complex application delivery environments trialing our Equalizer ADCs powered by the EQ/OS 10 architecture.”
