Load Balancer and Application Delivery Control Spaces Coming Together
August 16, 2011

There is currently a convergence happening between the load balancer and application delivery control spaces and Coyote Point Systems is one company that stands ready to benefit from this new trend.
“It makes a lot of sense,” Bill Kish (News - Alert), alpha coyote at Coyote Point, told TMC’s CEO Rich Tehrani in a recent video interview. “The load balancer is a single point where user traffic comes in and is distributed across a range of servers and originally the benefits of that were scalability and high availability because if a server died we could just continue to balance the traffic across the remaining set of servers.”
“But, as technology progressed and as the complexity of Web-based applications progressed, it became obvious that as this gateway between the user community on the Internet and the servers in the data center, there’s a lot of value add that we can provide,” he added.
For example, by merging the load balancer and application delivery control spaces, servers can spend time doing the tasks that are more important and all the other things such as encryption and decryption can be offloaded to the application delivery controller.
Coyote Point, a leading provider of load balancer and application acceleration technology, originated in the load balancer arena but has now entered the application delivery control space as the two areas have started to merge, according to Kish.
In addition to adopting the latest industry trend, however, Coyote Point is getting ready for the release of its next generation operating system platform, EQ/OS 10 – the newest application delivery platform. EQ/OS 10 is the latest firmware for the Equalizer GX series Application Delivery Controllers. As a completely new operating system, based on over 10 years of continuous innovation, EQ/OS 10 was conceived as the launching point for all of Coyote Point's upcoming products, according to company officials.
As Coyote Point gets ready to release the new EQ/OS10 operating system and keep riding the new trend in the load balancer and application delivery control space, it is also spreading the word that it can help companies in every vertical and of all sizes. From content providers to large enterprises, Coyote Point stands ready to help people who feel that “cost is critical,” Kish said.
