Coyote Point Systems (News - Alert), a provider of application delivery and load balancer products, has inked a partnership with Hurricane Electric, an IPv6-native Internet backbone and colocation provider, to provide IPv6 tunnel capabilities to Coyote Point's Equalizer Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs).
The partnership, which combines the best of breed Application Delivery functionality of Coyote Point's Equalizer product line with Hurricane Electric's (News - Alert) world-class Internet6 backbone, will provide users of Coyote Point's Equalizer ADCs with direct access to Hurricane Electric's IPv6 Service offering, company officials said.
As the industry is nearing exhaustion of IPv4 addresses, enterprises are under pressure to rapidly deploy IPv6 technology.
Hurricane Electric operates global IPv4 and IPv6 networks and provides access tunnels to transmit IPv6 traffic inside normal IPv4 packets. The implementation of a tunnel endpoint within their new Equalizer EQ/OS 10 Application Delivery Controller enables Coyote Point customers to connect directly to Hurricane Electric's network to receive IPv4 and IPv6 transit solutions over the same connection at speeds up to 10 Gbps and greater. “Hurricane Electric's tunnel broker services helped us to develop the IPv6 capabilities in our products, so we're very pleased to enable our customers to use the same technology to quickly join the Internet6,” said Bill Kish (News - Alert), Coyote Point's CTO and Alpha Coyote, in a statement. Coyote Point's EQ/OS 10 facilitates an easy to configure interface to create a tunnel with Hurricane Electric's tunnel broker service at one end, and Coyote Point's Equalizer at the other.
Utilizing the 6-in-4 tunneling, a technique which permits networks which do not have direct IPv6 connectivity to obtain an IPv6 address block and to route traffic to and from the Internet6, the two companies have created a very simple way to bring websites and applications into the otherwise complex world of IPv6.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Coyote Point Systems,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric, in a statement. “This partnership will ensure that customers of Coyote point can directly access Hurricane Electric's vast IPv6 network.”
The partnership will significantly benefit companies looking for ways to rapidly establish an IPv6 presence on the Internet, according to company officials.
Recently Hurricane Electric announced the availability of a new premium IPv6 tunnel broker service to complement its free and highly popular consumer-grade tunnel broker service.
