For high performance load balancing and application acceleration in E-commerce and secure SSL application environments, Coyote Point Systems’ (News - Alert) has released equalizer E450GX. Designed to deliver performance, management and acceleration in a single, easy-to-use load balancer appliance, the E450GX comes with a built-in Xcel SSL co-processor. Xcel’s custom encryption off load hardware handles the CPU-intensive SSL handshake and encryption process, eliminating the SSL processing burden on the web servers. The result is faster server response times and a better user experience.
By providing a single point of control regardless of how many servers are configured, E450GX’s Xcel also lifts the certificate management burden from administrators. This provides a single point of control for certificate management and can significantly reduce the cost of doing business by reducing the number of SSL certificates you need to purchase, said Coyote Point.
Regarding performance, the ultra-scalable Gigabit E450GX provides 8,500 HTTPS transactions per second to deliver faster response time and a more positive user experience.
Combining load balancing performance with simplicity, the E450GX slides effortlessly into any network to be up and running in less than an hour. Plus, it is equally easy to manage, according to company officials. The intuitive administrative interface provides a secure, dynamic, user friendly experience for ease of setup and ongoing management from any desktop web browser. Thus, it takes the guesswork and complexity out of application traffic management.
The advanced, intuitive management interface includes configuration wizards to lead users through the set-up process for clusters, servers, match rules, and failover configurations. All on-screen objects are interactive – a simple mouse rollover gives the user quick and easy real time graphical views of configuration and status.
With high performance Layer 7 load balancing, powerful application acceleration, intuitive configuration, and robust reporting for servers and clusters, equalizer E450GX makes sure that applications and web services are predictable, reliable and consistent.
As a backup in hot standby, the equalizer appliance can be configured in a fault tolerant configuration with a redundant equalizer appliance. This allows network administrators to eliminate single points of failure and deliver maximum performance for any mission-critical service that requires 100 percent availability, according to the manufacturer.
Weighing 15 lbs (6.8 kg), the E450GX can be powered by 120/240 Vac with ability to auto detect 50/60 Hz. The unit dimensions are height 1.75 inch, width 17.25 inches and depth 15.5 inches.
In other load balancer news, to help clear up any misconceptions that IT administrators may have surrounding load balancers, Coyote Point recently published a white paper that introduces and details the process of implementing application and server load balancer products.
As the document explains, deploying a load balancer is not an exceedingly painstaking, time-consuming or complicated task. The company's hallmark Coyote Point Equalizer load balancer can be integrated into existing web server infrastructure with very few configuration changes.
