To make mission critical applications affordable, Coyote Point Systems (News - Alert) has introduced an advanced server load balancer that offers scalability with high reliability at sub
$2,000 price point. Designed for small/medium enterprises, Coyote Point’s E250GX is a robust application aware server load balancer aimed at highly reliable and scalable server based applications such as SharePoint, Terminal Services or Web delivered dynamic content.
In fact, E250GX supports all web/HTTP based applications, including PHP, ASP, Oracle, and Apache. Microsoft (News
- Alert) products include SharePoint, Exchange, Outlook Web Access and Remote Desktop. Plus, it can handle SSL VPN, database clustering, email services, and streaming media.
A reliable layer 4-7 load balancer, the E250GX can load balance Web applications, email servers, portal servers, ERP applications, file transfer (FTP) servers, terminal services and much more. It provides scalability and high availability for all applications in one seamless step, said the manufacturer.
According to Coyote Point, the E250GX features 600 mega bits per second (Mbps) L4 throughput and 200 Mbps L7 throughput. With ample capacity to manage mission-critical web application, content or infrastructure servers, the E250GX scales as business grows to support up to 64 clusters containing 16 servers each.
The equalizer's active content verification (ACV) goes beyond the basic ping checks to actually test end-to-end application functionality. Hence, when a failure is detected, E250GX seamlessly redirects traffic to the best available server without administrator intervention. Thus, simplifying planned or unplanned maintenance of both servers and applications. The result is that individual servers can be easily added or removed from clusters without impacting application availability and service interruption.
Additionally, the load balancer slides effortlessly into any network with installations averaging 30 minutes. Its intuitive administrative interface provides a secure, dynamic, user friendly experience for set up and ongoing maintenance from any desktop web browser, the maker said..
In summary, some highlights of the load balancer include predictable, reliable and consistent application delivery, scaling up existing applications without additional development, eliminating single points of failure, and assuring application uptime. In addition, the E250GX eliminates midnight and weekend schedules for upgrades and maintenance and is easy to install and manage.
Weighing 7 lbs (3.2 kg), the E250GX can be powered by 110 Vac (29 W) or 220 Vac (40 W) with ability to auto select 50/60 Hz. The unit dimensions are height 1.75 inch, width 17.25 inches and depth 10.5 inches.Ashok Bindra is a veteran writer and editor with more than 25 years of editorial experience covering RF/wireless technologies, semiconductors and power electronics.
